Viral Video Shows Call of Duty: Zombies Map Kino Der Toten Out of Bounds
A viral video sees a Call of Duty Zombies fan no clipping outside the original version of Kino Der Toten, answering several common questions.
Call of Duty Zombies has had a long history, with players having deep connections to certain maps depending on when they first tried out the mode. For many, Kino Der Toten is incredibly nostalgic, and one Call of Duty Zombies fan has given players a new look outside the map.
Kino Der Toten debuted in the original Call of Duty: Black Ops from 2010. While it was intended to be DLC 4 content for Call of Duty: World at War, it ultimately joined Five to make for two different Zombies maps on launch day. Set in a ruined Nazi theater, many players have memories of the portraits on the walls and the Pack-A-Punch machine in the projector room. While the map lacked the easter eggs and quests that would eventually define the mode, it teased some exciting things for the story and was full of personality.
While Kino Der Toten got a major visual upgrade in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3's Zombies Chronicles expansion, TikTok user @un0xx gave players a behind the scenes look at the original version. While players have no clipped before to see Kino's city streets and the sky needle outside of the map, @un0xx chose to focus on answering random questions that players may have had when playing. To start, they focus on the knocking noise that can be heard when looking through the dressing room barrier.
While the knocking is meant to make it sound like something is behind the wall or locked in the crate, this is purely an audio file, as there is nothing actually making the noise. The player also gave viewers a new look at the "dentist room," an area that can teleported to when leaving Pack-A-Punch. Intriguingly, there is a zombie head in the other room that players would never see, leaving fans to wonder why Treyarch went through the effort of adding this detail in. Some fuse boxes are found below the floor, too, though it is unclear what their purpose was.
Unfortunately for Call of Duty Zombies fans who dreamt of fighting up on the stage catwalk, and theorized that there was a way to unlock the area, @un0xx shows that there are no physics tied to the texture. As such, players would fall right through the floor. The TikTok user also shows that Zombies spawning on the dressing room roof do not have a special spawn, and they close the video by showing players the projector room and main theater with the lights turned off.
While it remains to be seen if Kino Der Toten will ever be remastered again, the long-rumored standalone Zombies game would likely feature the map if it actually happens. Regardless, the many likes on this video help make it clear just how much Call of Duty fans enjoyed seeing their questions about Kino answered.
